Dunedin is New Zealand’s oldest city and has lots of buildings with Scottish influence.



Another reason people visit Dunedin is the Otago Peninsula, where numerous endangered birds nest. My backpacker friends and I spotted some albatross and penguins while enjoying the rugged coastline.

DSC_0096 DSC_0074 DSC_0068On my final day, I visited the Otago Museum to learn about the Maori and see the intricate woodwork they are known for.

DSC_0110I loved Dunedin and could have stayed another couple of days, but the mountains were calling.
